On the 1st of November 2018 Prof. Athina Vadalouca has informed me that Prof. Vasiliki Chimonitsi Kypriou has passed away on the 31st of October 2018.
We had a very long,very close friendship based on mutual confidence and my respect to her. She was one of the main architecs of building the friendship between Greek and Turkish pain societies together with Prof Vadalouca.Despite many misunderstandings between the politicians we have given the best example of how we can unite these two countries with the help of pain medicine.
Between 24-28 March 1999 we have organized the HIT-Hellenic –Israeli-Turkish Pain meeting in Crete.It was a great success.
Besides the professional relationship she ment more than a friend for me,an elder sister, sometimes a mother giving me instructions ,teaching in the best, in the most wise manner. My ancestors and her belonged to the same lands ,Trachea,so we shared the same aspirations.
I will never forget how happy she was as the chair of the election commitee during the EFIC elections when I was elected as the President of EFIC. That night we danced in the streets of Brussels.
She will remain in the hearts of all pain physicians from all over the world as a pioneer in her country,as a leader and respected teacher. I am always proud of being her student teaching the life.
